WD-40 squirted into the SS inflator after every wash. Instructor swears by it. Anyone else have similar experiences or opinions to share?

WD-40 is a decent cleaner for some app. It's not the worlds best lube. It will make some Orings swell.

There is a simple fix for every Halcyon SS inflator. It's the round bucket under your sink.

Then replace with plastic inflator. Problem solved :)

*Floater*:

Why can't Halcyon just switch to a plastic inflator? Or at least ship their SS inflators packed with silicon grease like this outlines . . .

I bought an Evolve wing, I am on the fence about whether I want to go through the hassle of disassembling the whole thing and packing it with grease on a regular basis, or whether I'll just swap it out.

HAHAHAHA yes jeckyll....good one :)

Well my SS inflator stuck open twice. After the first time I took exceptionally good care of it (i.e. soaking it in filtered water for 12+ hours after each day of diving) and the thing failed again 20 dives later.

That's when it was replaced.

I know others who have 100's of dives on their with no problems... YMMV.

They have. The standard inflator is now a plastic one.

The Inflate button just blew out of mine. Sitting on the boat and hear this POP look over and there it lays. Plastice for me from here on out.

I agree Tobin. Personally, I wouldn't spray WD-40 into an inflator unless you want a bigger problem on your hands. Either get one of the new Halcyon ones or go with the ScubaPro balanced inflator.

petro lubricants and silicone?

I think the whole "no vaseline" and condoms is based on this. I want a plastic one now.
