Anyone diving/camping at Dale Hollow in the next 90 days or so?

I used to camp out on Pine Island and always had a blast. Would like to do this again.

Diving is near by, Pine Island.

Looking for some lake diving and a a non-puritan society where we can have a beer afterwards (legally), like in Tenn.

I haven't dove there since a search and recov. @ Hendricks Creek Resort years ago.

We are looking to camp in Sept. or Oct. when the nights cool off.

Going the third weekend in Sept. Leaving out of Wisdom Dock on a houseboat with my inlaws ( yes, the whole hee-haw clan). The good news is my wife, daughter, and daughter's boyfriend are divers. Plan to do a few dives. So if you see a houseboat with people yelling and screaming at one another with a dive flag... that will be us. Been there twice before (not with the inlaws) and had a great time.

LOL

We have rented a houseboat out of wisdom before. Booze is legal on the Tenn. side you know...Have fun

I've always heard of Dale Hollow...what's there? Where's a good place to dive there?

Thanks
Steve

There is a floating dive shop on the lake that knows best. You can buy a map of the old underwater towns. There is nothing left but an occasional tractor and foundations. Viz is about the same as Cumberland and Laurel but Dale Hollow doesn't have the amount of polluntants that Cumberland and especially Laurel has. Not yet anyway.

How is the vis, thermoclines and depth of the diving areas in Dale Hollow? Would like to come down in late September when it cools off at night.

Wht about night diving there??

I went diving at Dale Hollow three weeks ago. Visibility was about 8-10 feet for the most part. I didnt give my computer time to equalize, but water temp at 40 feet and deeper is *cold*, even with a 2-piece 6mm suit (w/gloves and beanie).

Found lots of geodes (rocks with crystals inside) and saw quite a few fish.

On the down side, every place I dove had abandoned fishing lines in the water, and I could constantly hear boats while underwater.
