Dale was the only driver I had ever wanted to meet. I had been putting off going to a race for various reasons. His death taught me there is no time like the present to do the things you really want to do, because tomorrow may never come.

Dale was probably the greatest driver, keep in touch. When I get staioned in FL for my next duty we'll go to one. Very much true, you need to sieze the moment when it presents itself, it may never do that again.

Good movie. Learned a lot about him and what he went through to get to the top of NASCAR.

I watched it with my motocross crazed son. When Dale said, "I ain't going back to school Daddy, all I want to do is race", my son looked at me and raised his eyebrows...what can I say?

He can do it after he graduates college?

I would prefer that, yes. Especially after just shelling out US$4000 to have surgery and skin grafts on his finger after getting it almost torn off in the back sprocket. It won't slow him down a bit either. But my son could really relate to Earnhardt. He's been driving since he was twelve here on the farm. Now he drives fast and power slides...and can ride wheelies on his motorcycle for over a mile. It's hard being his father...

I will do the research, I think that most of the drivers today have a HS diploma and some college. Could be wrong, it's a shot......what happens if something happens and needs to get an alternative job other than racing.
