Time to trade in the old Mares and I'm looking at the Dacor Pro Rig. Divers-supply is selling them for $339.95 comes with a stainless steel back plate. Anyone know 1st hand knowledge about it?

It's right in my price range,I can't afford OMS, DiveRite, etc. and I can mount doubles on it someday if I go that route.

Heres the link http://www.divers-supply.com/viewIt...DACOR RIG PRO BC SCUBA EQUIPMENT&Search=N

That rig has been around, in some form, for thirty years. I own one, and use it mainly in lake and river dives. See some instructors using it; also, Mel Fisher, and the team that found the Atocha use it.

So many D-rings for what? Do you really need 75lb lift? Honestly, I don't think it is a good BCD. if you will mount doubles, you better get a "real" BP/wing. $340 maybe not enough for a Halcyon, DR or OMS, but there are many other good BP Wings like Oxycheq.

I dove one for a coule of years and liked it. I switched to a Dive Rite BP/W. For one, the Rig Pro was a pain to travel with. It didn't fold neatly into the bag and was really bulky. Second, there are a lot of "danglies" in the form of the should strap adjustments. This made scootering really hard because they had D-rings on the end of them and they would get sucked into the scooter prop. Lastly, the weight pouches didn't hold the weight as I would have liked. It's hard for me to explain it, but I just didn't like the feel of it.

Overall it was a decent rig, but I wouldn't use it for doubles and there are too many d-rings. I'd consider saving up an extra couple hundred $$$ and buy a Dive Rite, OMS, or OxyCheq.

I ended up going with a Halcyon Pioneer with a 36 lbs. wing.

Sounds like you can afford Northeast Scuba Supply's Dive Rite special for $329.99 - http://www.northeastscubasupply.com/specials/bp_famous_specials.html

I found a ebay special Halcyon Pioneer :D used but in my price range. Excellent shape and didn't cost me an arm and a leg.
Thanks CRDiver, when I decide it's time for a change again, I'll keep them in mind.

I have three backplate and wings. Two for singles diving and one for doubles. You will absolutely love the stability you get with one of these setups. You can stay horizontal with no effort. They are easy to pack and virtually bulletproof and no extra plastic rings and pockets to bother you.
