I searched through past posts on the Eagle, but didn't really find much in the way of anyone's feedback on the performance of the Dacor Eagle. Everyone jumps on the "Dacor out of business" line. I understand that. They still support the newer lines and my LDS confirmed that they will continue to service them as they have sold many Dacor regs over the past few years and would really irritate a lot of loyal customers if they abandoned them. That said, the fact that Dacor has been taken over by Mares doesn't concern me.

What I would like to hear is any performance feedback on the Eagle. I am looking at buying a cheaper reg setup to do recreational diving at maybe 15-25 dives/year. I don't have time for more. I have used several different brands as rentals; Sherwood, Oceanic, and ScubaPro and really haven't seen much performance difference. Not looking to spend $300-400 on a reg as I will be buying two setups. I can get an Eagle, octo, and 3 guage for $300 new. With verified local support available I see it as a good deal, but with varied reviews on the Viper, I wondered about performance on the Eagle. Any good performance reviews would be appreciated.

I have an Eagle Sport and really like it with the Viper Octo... nice... has about 100 dives in it. Doesn't handle cold (eg. water temps below 40 F or air temps below 34 F) well but I dove it mainly in warmer waters.

Even if you get a couple or 3 years of life out of the set and then move onto something newer and better, does that beat renting? Yep, most likely.

Not really concerned about cold water...we don't get along. I refuse to buy anything but a 3 mil or less! That's what I was looking at, about 3-4 years or so. All my kids should be gone by then and maybe some of my money back! I can dive more and upgrade if necessary. Just tired of paying rental fees on mediocre gear. With two of us (sometimes 4) the rental fees add up in a hurry.

I`ve the Eagle Sport by Dacor. I like the little *******. It`s basically the Mares Proton or Proton XL. Good reg.

I would be more concerned if HTM is going to continue with the Dacor line or just drop it, so far they have not been very forthcoming with information on the brands future.

Cheers
Chris

I can't forsee a service problem with the Eagle, it's a Mares reg with different chrome on the first stage and an overmolding on the second stage.

Also research the Proton and see how people like that because that is what the second stage is under the overmolding.

Agreed, of you are thinking of getting this Reg it would be worth getting the Mares Equivalent, seeing as the guts are exactly the same.

Cheers

DiveDacor.com is still up and running. As a matter of fact they have a new reg. out there called the Trainer and Trainer Pro. (Atleast from this part of the world it's new.) Anyway these regs. are basically the Mares Proton and XL with Dacor written on them and some small redesigns. That's all. Unless you like the Dacor name and logo that's what they are.

I have an eagle dpd pro and I have had no troubles or complaints with it,and in fact I like my reg!
