Does anyone know if the D700 could fit into the MDX-D300 housing? I have juz learnt from a fellow diver that his Nexus D300 hsg would fit the D700 with a slight adjustment/modification.

I think not.... The nexus housing has a much larger top to accommodate the pop-up flash when used with optical cables. Sea & Sea unfortunately does not have this (I sorely wished it did). Also, some controls are slightly off......

Bottom line is that the camera won't fit and there are no plans to offer a mod (if at all possible).

If you find a way to mod things....do share!

Thx Eskasi.

I got the chance for a brief attemp yesterday (thx to a nice fellow shopper who juz bought a D700) and indeed the top cannot fit in. The second thing that does not work is the focus mode selector switch.

At this juncture, I think if the syn cord plate inside the MDX-D30 is removed, it may fit the D700. I think - at least for me - the non function focus mode selector is not a problem. The next step is to find out if all the other control buttons align OK. Let's keep exploring.

Just heard rumors that S&S are planning to offer a new line of housings......not sure if the materials used but it seems like they are planning to offer use of the pop up flash for Optical TTL... Will be interesting to hear news on this;

Humm interesting picture...
Looks like the rumored Sea&Sea housing for the Nikon D60.
But wouldn't a pop-up flash in a housing/dome configuration cause strange reflexes on the dome?

Something to see...
I just hope with fingers crossed for a MDX-D90.

Hmmm.... I think it would be like the Anthis or Nexus housings..... they have the option for fibre optic cable connection as well as standard sync cords.....the built-in flash from the camera is well blocked so that it does not leak into the port openings...
