Has anyone else had problems with the latching pin on the steel strap for the D6i? My local dive center has replaced mine 4 times in the past 2 years for the same problem. The little pin which the strap locks closed on keeps getting loose. I feel this is a design flaw as the pin is simply punched into the band. My concern is that the next time around they will not cover it under warranty even though I continue to have the same issue over and over from day one. This computer wasn't cheap especially with the steel band. Is there maybe a recall on these ? I've also noticed that on the new D6i Nouvo they no longer offer the steel straps maybe because the have been problematic. Any ideas or help would be great.

A quick internet search tells me that no, not many people are having that issue. My guess it that the cost of the metal band made it unpopular and that is why they dropped it. As I recall, and my memory isn't what it used to be, the metal band D6i and the rubber band D9 were really close in price at one point.

As for your issue, your saying that they changed your entire band 4 times and you still wore it out. Then dud I think its you.

However if you meant that they changed out the pin for the lock, then my recommendation is to stop taking it to the LDS for a watch band repair and see if you can get a real watch repair man to look at it. You've basically asking an A/C repair guy to fix your tire. Yes they are both good with there hand but you can't make up for years of experience working with watches by fixing regulators all day.

Good luck. Fourth time is the charm, maybe!
