Hi all, I'm new to this board, I just started diving and I just got a point and shoot underwater. As I tried to post on the Ca Kelp divers subsection I was reminded that I need a min. of 5 posts to be able to post pics. So that got me thinking and I thought of a question!
I have a Nikon D5000, I am nervous about submerging it, any thoughts, am I being over reactive? I know some of you take dslr's down, what housing do you trust and what are the limitations.

thoughts?

Thanks Artin,

Been happy with my Ikelite on the D200

Think insurance! It is not a matter of "if" it will flood, but "when" it will flood.

There are a few insurance companies you can choose from but I have not researched who is the best recently. D.A.N. is one of them that insures cameras. Read the fine print carefully.

There are lots of housings available. Set a budget and then start looking. If you already have strobes and such that may play into the decision. Have you checked out wetpixel?

ABQDiver,
I saw the site, pretty cool stuff but I don't think they have one yet for a D5000.:depressed:

Peter,
"Think insurance! It is not a matter of "if" it will flood, but "when" it will flood."
Thanks for the tip, I will for sure look into that. I didn't read the fine print obviously!

scottfiji,
That's a great link thank you. I read most of it, I like the cooler Idea!

By the way guys, you mention Ikelite. It's the first time I've heard of the brand, more people mention Sea & Sea, I went to their website and they are very good, any thoughts why? I'm thinking marketing!
