I'm loving my Hydros Pro. Is it possible to install additional D rings that fit the 1" webbing on the monoprene shoulder straps? I could do with 2 more. Thanks

Did the Hydros Pro come with 6 already? My traveling BCD only had 2 but I wanted a couple up on the shoulder straps - attached a couple of brass key rings. Posted this in a Tips and Tricks thread also.

Thanks for the tip jonhall

There are 4 metal D rings on the front - 2 shoulder and 2 under the weight pockets (which are now hidden under ninja cargo pockets). There are 2 plastic loops on the shoulder strap buckles which I find a bit tricky for 1-handed clip-offs.

It would be great to have 2 more metal ones on the shoulders so I can clip-off bolt snaps without having to look down.

A couple of chunky key rings on the plastic loops is also a potential solution.

Do you know
if you protect a Dring with tape or rubber sheet or cardboard or something, put it in a vice or something
and cut the weld through with a hacksaw, dremel, grinder or something and then manipulate it with pliers
or something

You can make it fit around the webbing and through lots of other places almost better than a bought one

and it doesn't come off

Wouldnt trust it not to break the monoprene strap holder. I did however buy 4 split d rings and place them further back on the travel strap. The nice added benefit is that anything I clip in dont hang lower than my body.

It’s easy. I didn’t add any but I swapped the 1” rings for 2” angled rings and moved them up the straps. I wanted 2” because I felt the 1” ones were just too small to clip to easily.

To do it, press out the pins at the top of the QR buckles. Be gentle and don’t plan to do it often so you don’t loosen them up. You don’t have to press them all the way out either. Leave them partially in place and it is easy to reattach the straps and reseat the pins. Once you have released the strap from the pin just in thread the strap to the point you want your new d-ring and weave it in and rethread the strap back in place. Be careful to note the way it is threaded before you undo anything. Best to do only one side at a time to maintain a model for the other side.

I've put these all over the place on mine and they are working quite well:

The 'D' shape seems to keep them nicely aligned in most cases. I use them as rings rather than 'biners (generally not opening and closing the screw mechanism other than to install) but the few times I have had to manipulate them they seem to be staying usable and not seizing up or corroding.
