i am wondering if anyone has been to cyprus and gone diving? any feed back would be great, like where you went, about the experience, anything interesting...

i hav seen some photos and looks great, i only ask because thats where im goin to do my good old zero to hero course...

so feel free to let me know :)

i have been to cyprus many moons ago . the diving was good .

there is a great wreck out there . called the zenobea ( prob not the best spelling )

diving schools in cyprus are ok . if your goig all the way id recomend going to eygpt with the red sea divin college .

And I was thinking you were asking about the wreck of the Cyprus. Looks to be awsome if anybody ever gets there, kind of deep.

Tim

Dive school in Paphos is excellent CYDIVE.

I did some training there a few years back. Very good

The Zenobia is just one of the many wrecks out there but its probably the most famous.

Im going out there in August, hopefully going to do my Rescue diver there

Extremely dull diving in cyprus - even less inspiring than Greece.

Its got the Zenobia which is a good dive but absolutely nothing else at all.

All diving is good diving.

Its not that bad, I think you've just been spoilt string.;);)

check out these Divesites

I used to work for Cydive (nigh on 20 years ago mind you:() and that list of sites has changed very little, except that they've mis-spelled Sparx Grotto, it should be Spark's Grotto as it was located by Simon Potter (Sp) and Mark Caney (ark).

Anyway, I can confirm that most of the sites in Cyprus are fairly dull, particularly as the Greek Cypriots have that macho thing of spearfishing anything bigger than the head of the spear! So any large fish are long gone. The only worthwhile dive is the Zenobia.

However, you don't go to Cyprus for the diving, you go for the training.

i havn't done as much diving as i would like to so any diving is good diving in reality,
and like hickdive said i am only going to do the training and some travel.

i am pretty certain that im going to the area around cape greco (gkreko) on the eastern side, protaras... anyone been around there???

That side of the island has the best beaches.

Not really. A country that offers 1 decent dive site gets dull fast. Cyprus is like a lot of that part of the med - devoid of much in the way of fish life as its all been blown up/poisoned or just overfished. Good vis but nothing to see. Greece is pretty much identical. Very nice if you enjoy looking at bare rocks underwater.

Despite the PR on some of the websites the sites are all very samey - seen one, seen them all.

If going to Cyprus its ok for 1 maybe 2 days away from family to dive but thats about it. Certainly wouldn't choose it as a destination for a diving holiday.
