I am going to PELEE PASSAGE to do some diving at the end of this month. I was just wondering what conditions were like this time of year. Thanks in advance for all the info.

I can't tell you about Pelee Passage but May 21/22 we dove the Dundee, Admiral, Cleveco and Queen of West out of Cleveland, OH and the visibility was 0-10 feet (got 17 feet briefly on the Dundee) with a 3-6 foot average and the water temp. was about 44 degrees at 70 feet.

Thanks for the info. I hope are vis is a little better at the end of the month.

Our Captain told us the vis is best in August and September in the area we were diving. He said one time he saw 200 feet in September on the Dundee but that was years ago.

who do you dive with out of cleveland? Are there any good boats in Toledo? Thanks again.

The closest out of Toledo is Scuba Recovery out of Port Clinton. We're diving with them June 25th over at Pelee. Check out www.scubarecovery.com. Steve Sheridan is the captain and he seems like a good guy. I haven't dove with them before but he was highly recommended to me and all communication with him so far has been very positive.

Take care,

Andy

We used Discovery Dive Charters and loved them. The advanced dives are $85 and they bring along drinks, sandwiches, chips and hot soup. Capt. Vitas said for the $55 dives you get drinks, sandwiches and chips and the less expensive dives just get drinks because you are not out on the water as long. You get a thorough dive briefing on the site and they usually know almost exactly what part of the wreck they have hooked. They don't like to crowd divers on a boat, we used the Express and they put a max of 8 divers on it even though the Coast Guard has it approved for 10. If you are a group of 10 they will accomodate you on the Express but they don't add 2 divers if you only have 8. We had 7 in our group and had more than plenty of room. We chose Wildwood Marina as our departure point.
