Is the Big Mike of whom you speak Jeanie's (of Tres Pelicanos) husband Mike?

I've never met Big Mike as we dive with 3P's in December when he and Jeanie are usually back in the states on Holiday but if he's anything like gopbroek or mantaman I think it's safe to say there is no deep/dark crevice left in Cozumel where "no man has gone before". Lord knows you wouldn't find me in those places! Only way one can tell their still alive in there is the random "CHINK" from spear points hitting coral rock. I just assume the more "CHINKS" I hear, the faster that Lionfish must be. ;)

Yes and he is one of the best divers I know, a true pleasure to dive with
I have also been diving with him a few times back when Jeanie was at Blue Angel. He is a great diver and a helluva nice guy.

And living proof that being in perfect physical condition is not required to limit air consumption. He is a great guy. Lots of time the divers on the boat don't even know that he is watching out for them.

I know the OP has already gone and back from COZ, but I did want to comment on air consumption. I have dove with Big Mike and he has given me tips on using air. Even still, I prefer to dive with 100 cf tanks. I would use 125's if I could find them. My resting pulse is below 70 (typically 62 - 65). I am still a hoover, though. Mike's tips have helped, as have tips from others, but I have been a heavy breather all my life. Even as a kid, I would always get caught at hide and seek because the seeker could hear me breathing. I'm getting better, but I will never get to 70 minutes on an 80 cf tank.
