Thinking of going to the Marriott Beach Resort & Emerald Casino during the week of April 5. Any feedback on boat / shore diving, and possible crime issues would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey Mike, we'll be at Breeze's the same week and diving with the Dive Bus. Check out their site The Dive Bus - HOME. Suzy and Mark great people to dive with and I believe they pick up at the Marriot. If you email Suzy, she can answer any question regarding diving, siteseeing or just about anything on the island.:cool2:

For me, the reason to go to Curacao is shore diving. Not that there is anything wrong with the boat dives, but to me it's kind of like going to a good seafood restaurant and ordering a burger. There are some exceptions such as Watamula.

Plenty of shore diving locations all along the South side from East to West. Google "Curacao shore diving," search "Curacao" here and take a look at the Ocean Encounters, Dive Bus and Curacao Actief websites for more details. You will want a rental car or truck.

Crime? If you leave stuff in your rental truck it will quite possibly be stolen while you are away from the truck. Don't leave anything you care about in the truck and leave it unlocked and you should be fine. Or search "crime" on this ABC islands forum and you can spend hours reading the arguments, theories, causes, solutions, etc.

We stay at the Marriott each time we are there. We shore dive right there alot. It is decent and extremely convenient. There are many good shore dives on Curacao. Research the threads here and be sure to get a dive map when you are there. They are 6 or 7 dollars. Tom and the folks have a good dive operation at the Marriott and will also tell you the best shore dives and how to get there. There are many good dive shops on the island. Search previous threads here and see if any seem to stand out.
