We are going next month and I currently have reservations on Divi from Curacao to Bonaire and return. We are flying AA Miami-Curacao as it's cheap and so am I!! We also live in S Florida, so an easy choice over the much higher Insel tickie direct to Bonaire.

I'm wondering what others experience with carryon baggage with Insel and Divi is?? I need to carry a small housing and camera and a laptop. Also Insel seems to cancel flights and be late fairly often. What have you found?? How often do you get charged for overweight baggage?

Bump--I'm really curious about others experience with Divi Divi Air and Insel Air. We are OK with a 44lb divebag, but what about my laptop and carryon???

Our experience with the Divi Divi was that it depends on who is on your flight as to the luggage issues.
When we have flown we were the only non-locals and only guests with luggage so there were no issues with overages.
My understanding is that if all the guests are tourists with luggage then you will have an issue.

Thanks Deputy Dan, for the info and the link--so, how did you access the old BT?? Is it now available?:eyebrow: or was that SB!

Old Scuba board post.

Anyone else? Surely someone else has flown Insel or Divi Divi Airlines between Curacao and Bonaire. What's your CARRYON baggage experience? Thanks again Deputy Dan:cool2:

Just back from Bonaire. I will answer my own question. We used Divi Divi Air and it went well. My wife thought the small plane was scary, it was a little bumpy yesterday BON-CUR. All our luggage made it both ways with us. We were the only divers aboard along with 5 locals with little if any luggage both ways. I paid $9.00 excess weight for my wife's dive bag on our return, nothing CUR-BON. I had a 44lb dive bag, a laptop, and a normal carryon of about 15 lbs. Wife had the same size carryon and a big purse, and the overweight divebag. We took our carryons to the plane and the pilot loaded them in the back, our checked were already there. We took aboard the laptop and purse with our documents, etc.

Divi's website sez a 44lb checked is ok and a carryon of 6.5 lbs. They charged us the $9.00 overweight only 1 way and let the other stuff slide. Thanks DiviDivi Air!!:cool2:
