I would like to go to Cuba this year for some diving and some R&R. </p>
  • What is a good time to go? To beat the crowds, get good deals and good diving?
  • What are the prime dive locations?
  • Suggested hotels/travel bureau?
  • All inclusive or non-inclusive?
  • Any pointers?

Any help would be appreciated, especially if you have gone already.

Well I'm going to Cuba in about 3 weeks time for the first time. I'll be staying at the El Colony.

I know some people who went there last year at this time and they said it was good.
I'll let you know when I get back.

Hello Tamas,

My recommendation is "Don't go to Cuba". It is against United States law. You can be fined and jailed if you are caught going to Cuba. You need to read up on the law that forbids U.S. citizens from traveling there. Then at least you can make an informed decision and know what you may be getting yourself into. As of late the U.S. Feds have been going down hard on U.S. citizens traveling to Cuba by way of Canada and Mexico. Beware.

Hello again,

Yeah but I am Canadian! And for us, it is not forbidden or punishable by law to go to Cuba (or many other countries for that matter)

So any other suggestions on the original post?

Are you serious? Citizens of the USA arent allowed to go to Cuba? Cubans arent allowed to go to the USA. I though the USA was a democracy and Cuba is communist. Sounds like USA needs a dictionary to define the word democracy.
What about Guantanamo Bay? Are you allowed there?

Sorry, but this is incorrect. It is not "against the law" for US Citizens to go to Cuba. It is, however, against the law for them to spend money there. ;)

FYI, since the thread originator is from Canada, there are no such restrictions.
