Well, we just got back from Cuba and spent time in Varadero, Bay of Pigs and Havana.

Great trip and good weather all week. Resort left a bit to be desired and the food was typical Cuba (= ack). However, we made up for it by way of some non-resort meals that were truly wonderful.

1st 3 days in the bay of pigs, next 2 at a reef just outside Varadero and the last day touring Havana. Bay of Pigs was very nice as usual - definitely some great underwater scenery there. Coral Beach (just outside varadero) had lots of light as it is only about 20-30 feet tops but lots of coral formations and several swimthroughs/cave type areas.

Apparently all the sharks had left early this year though, so no shark dives this time. However, the mosquitos certainly packed a bite (still feeling the pain from those little *******s).

One of our guys had a bit of a back issue later on in the week and had to spend a couple days in bed. However, we were kind and let him live vicariously through us for those days and made sure he heard how wonderful our days were. It always helps those bed-ridden folks to know others are having a wonderful time, i find :)

Definitely worth a trip or two down that way.

That pic with the sunbeams going straight down is very cool.

Thats in a cenote just off the road at the bay of pigs. If you time it right you get these sunbeams right down to the bottom. Its such a beautiful sight. Took the tripod down for it this year and still only got a couple shots worth looking at.

Very cool shots. I am quite jealous of your trip. I would like to make that trip someday but the obvious keeps ME from my goal. How do you rate the diving to other spots in the Carib or MX? Thanks again for the nice shots.

Excellent choice. It's what I'm using also, but am in the process of deciding on a strobe. Probably the INON D180. Looking for a wide angle lens as well. Been looking at the INON UWL 100.

Did you have to colour correct any of those shots?

Warren is that INON 180 much higher in price than the alternative? This rig is the one I am also considering.

I don't think so Mike. I was looking at the S&S YS-90 as an alternative, and I seem to recall the pricing was similar. I got price quotes from Yuzo. From the buzz about the D180, this seems to be the one to go with.

Great pics Wetman! Looks like you had a good time.
