I can't wait until this September.... :)

what's the story with traveling there from the USA right now? These folks were advertizing here for a while: Oceans for Youth Foundation . But they don't start until next spring. Any other legal by usa gov standards options now? Doesn't the law still say no recreational activities? Only cultural/edducational?

Oceans for Youth is Aggressor Fleet. Other non-profits are in the approval process now, but OFAC is a little backed up. Carnival Cruise lines just got an OFAC permit, I don't know the status of their trips.

Yea, OFAC sounded real good except that it is not run by the usual Aggressor office, it is through South America. So it made me a little suspicious. Would love to hop on one of these, but I think I will wait until things get a little clearer, hopefully soon.

WHen I get mine, it won't be run through my office, either.

my full boat charter next july 14-24 is thru oceans for youth. the aggressor vessel is due to start charter service this coming april. I have no concerns about it's legitimacy and iv'e heard bookings are strong. our trip sold out in less than an hour of the targeted email,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Are you going to be at Jardines de la Reina this month, Wookie? If so, I might see you. Some friends of mine are there this week and a friend and I are going to dive at the Bay of Pigs next Friday and then at Jardines de la Reina from next Saturday till the 25th. :)

OFAC is officially very backed uo, I have not heard the status of my permit, but Gardens of the Queen is exactly on the other side of Cuba for me. About 4 days to get there, 4 days home. I will probably visit there like the rest of you.

Aah ok. Hopefully something works out for you. I'll let you know if it's worth the long trip when I get back. It's sort of not that "long" for me in some ways, but it will be a trek. I have to fly there, then a 5 hour drive to Jucaro, then meet the liveaboard and go 60 miles offshore, about a 5 hour boat ride, but comfortably on the liveaboard. We're breaking up the drive by diving at Bay of Pigs and the cenote (if it doesn't look too challenging) the day before if all goes well and staying overnight.
