Hello Peolpe!!!!

I am planning to buy the CrystalVu with purge valve but I am quite new to diving... so I would like to collect some information on this mask.

Ciao Skymaster.

Welcome to ScubaBoard!

You may want to post that question in the Fins, Masks & Snorkels forum.

Don't forget to fill out your profile, so that we can add context to your future posts. Also, once we know where you are geographically, you may find that you'll have a whole bunch of new dive buddies to choose from.

Dive safe!

Howdy!

Welcome to SB!!
:happywave Put us in your computer's favorites and check in often. This is a great place to learn, compare, argue :argue: Look around our various forums - everything from New-To-Scuba to Instructors-Only to Dive Medicine.

You can ask around, but I don't care for purge valves. A good fitting mask and skills you need anyway is all you need. In fact, I'm so used to automatically clearing mine as I dive, that if my mask fogs (forgot the spit), I have a difficult time keeping some water in it.

BTW - Did you set up your Profile? Some ideas for your Profle might be taken from looking at mine. Click on my Username to the upper left, then click on my Profile, and see what I've done. For your's, click the [CP] in the upper left of the screen, then click [Edit Profile]. If you need any help, PM me direct.

:D

Welcome to the board, nope, you want to buy the Cressi Sub - Big Eye Mask.............

Welcome to the board! Had the crystlVU, but didn't like it. Relatively limited view (couldn't see my chest), and the purge prevented me from pinching my nose off properly. Switched to a Mares X-Vision (non purge) and won't go back.

Welcome to Scubaboard. You have the right idea asking questions, just posted in the wrong forum. Most divers don't like purge valves, just one more thing that could fail. Notice I said could. Some do like it. Just remember that when you ask for opinions, that's what you'll get-opinions. Take care and dive safe!

Welcome to the board!

I'll chime in re: purge valves. Just one more potential failure point. My advice is to stick with a low-volume mask, with no side windows or purge valves, and you'll be very happy. (Any extra windows add volume to the mask, requiring more effort to clear it, which you will have to do from time to time, especially in the beginning.

Good luck, Grier

Welcome to SB.
I have a CrystalView with purge. You don't need the purge but if you want it thats up to you. Mine has it, only because I bought it when they first came out and it was not available without the purge. I have had no problems with it, it fits me great. Having the purge you need to get used to it being there if you need to plug your nose. Its not a problem once you are used to it. I have no problem pluging my nose even with dry gloves on.
