Being Black Friday, and after my recent post regarding course prices, I was wondering if any Ontario resident has taken Padi courses across the border. The American prices seem to be considerably less than what I am seeing in my area at least.

I had a student come from Toronto for tdi nitrox and a drysuit course a couple years ago. You have to remember except for the on line portions agencies don't set class prices. Individual shops and instructors do.

Factoring in travel and lodging it may not be worth it for a PADI course. Most people traveling seem to be doing so to take a technical course with their chosen instructor.

Depends on the class. basic OW? Nah. Anything else? Sure. I have taught week long classes at Gilboa where we stayed there for 5 days or in a hotel. My Tech Instructor classes were done that way. Steve Lewis and I spent a week at Gilboa getting those done.

I have taken a few courses in the US but they have been due to the need ie cave training in Florida. To be honest I personally do not find a big difference in price especially given the exchange rate and the other costs that factor in.

Or if you want to pick up regular certs you can combine several of those into several days of diving in a nice place. That is done all the time.
