Has anyone seen one of these yet? They appear to be the latest in the Big Eyes / Matrix range, with side windows. How is the internal volume compared to either of the other two masks?

final bump?

Scubaroo,

Some info can be found from these two links:

I have no personal experience with the penta, but I do have a matrix mask. To me the penta looks like a Matrix/Big eyes with the same inverted teardrop shape. In order to accomodate the extra side lenses, the side mouldings of the penta mask are considerably larger than the Matrix/Big Eyes. Additionally, the strap attachment point is set much further back. Internal volume? Well no actual specifics, but Cressi themselves describe it as "very low". The weight is the same as the Matrix, 175g.

Regards,

Charles

The Penta mask has a much thicker skirt, perhaps twice as thick than the Cressi Big Eyes. The side windows seem to allow more light in. The adjustment mechanism is different. I broke one of the one Big Eyes plastic tabs once.

The lens material is also claimed to be clearer than other mask materials, although I cannot discern the difference.

Overall, it seems to be a much better mask than the Big Eyes, which I always thought was too flimsy.
