Cressi Archimede II dive computer question

Hi all

I am seriously considering the Cressi Archimede II 3 gauge computer console for purchase in early Jan 08.

What I want to know is if the computer can be removed from the console and wrist mounted?

Haven't been able to get any solid info on that anywhere.

So I take it you are easily able to remove it from its boot then?

If that is the case, than that would mean I can buy a wrist boot for the dive computer, and a depth gauge for the console should I want to wrist mount the computer.

What made you choose it, and how has your experience of the reliability and accuracy been?

Now I just have to see if a depth guage can be found for the console if you go with the wrist option, and find a boot for it too.

I have a wrist mounted Archi II.

Why don't you just the wrist mounted version? Consoles are too heavy and bulky and unncessary IMHO. Wrist computer, wrist compass and an spg is all that you should need.

Other than that the computer rocks. Nice and easy to read and use (even with thick gloves). It is a bit conservative though.

My decision is for this one after extensive investigation. It has a compass, a pressure gauge - and if my information is correct so far, the dive computer can be removed and placed in a wrist boot.

Features-wise it seems to be one of the better ones, yet price-wise it includes the compass and gauge that would be an additional cost if bought separately.

Reviews of the unit have been positive, and as for wrist mounting, I expect I'll get an air-integrated unit at some point in the future. Right now I can have a solid rig for diving with good features at a good price.

I'm pretty sure you can convert it fairly easily. The computer is conservative, but the slower you ascend the more it rewards you. If you really do some multi level diving than you can come out better than others. make your profile look like a lot of steps and you'll do great.

Thanks for that. I've learned a lot of small but important things on this forum that you'd never get from the manufacturer's documentation.

I'll keep your suggestions in mind, since I do want to get the most out of all the kit I am buying. In my Wilderness Search and rescue days knowing your gear was prime, testing it and familiarising yourself with it, staying in tune with it was always ongoing.

I bought mine in the console, but set it up for wrist when my regulator had an issue and I had to dive with rental gear. It just needed two large pins similar to what a regular watch uses, and a two-piece band. Switching it is something like a 10 minute job. The console is held together by 4 torx head screws with large threads. Everything, including the hose, seats into place and it fits together precisely.

As for a depth gauge that's not the computer fitting the console.....I would think maybe that would be hard to match up unless Cressi makes it. For the difference in money, it seems like you could just have a second computer.

Thank you very much for the info, this is what I've been looking for. I did get a response from one of the LeisurePro people (Brett), who PMed me to say that it could be removed from the console and wrist mounted. LP doesn't offer the wrist boot however.

I will have a look into the depth gauge, but maybe you are right about the second computer. I have been seeing myself coming to the same conclusion, so thanks for the verification.

How has your experience been with the console? I have been told (and read) that it's positive, with perhaps a slightly conservative algorithm being the only consideration.

Hi,

the Cressi Depth Gauge has a different diameter than the Archimede computer. So it is not possible to fill the computers space in the console, when you remove the computer.
