Okay, I see these all the time and other than the one chris62 shows, I don't understand what you're gaining with these handles. It still requires you to use your hand, right? What is the benefit of this style of handle?
 
Your hand is free to do other things without dropping/clipping the light. In one hand you could run a reel and see where you are going, leaving your other hand free to do things like add air to your BC to keep you from crashing in to the bottom and silting the place out.

absolutely spot on, most of our inland "free" dive sites in the uk are low viz, low temp and full of silt so the more free hands you have, the more control you have and the chance of falling into the incident pit is decreased.
But apart from the obvious practical reasons, my handle makes me feel like buzz lightyear and thats just cool :D:D !!!!
