(i do not believe in God, and I believe the historical Jesus is far more complex and complicated that it's taught in Sunday School, but i do consider myself a Christian, in that I grew up and was taught the Judeo-Christian traditions, and find much of value in them)

My grandparents once owned a cat that had her kittens in a milk crate. That didn't make the kittens a dairy product, though they were closely associated with it.

θεόπνευστος ~ pronounced theopneustos, which literally means:

God-breathed; as in God breathed it out. In the Apostle Paul's letter to Timothy he states that All Scripture is God-breathed. 2 Timothy 3:16


Personally, I believe the Bible to be the inspired (and therefore inerrant) Word of God. Not that I understand everything, mind you. Still, believing, trusting and resting upon the Bible as the Word of God has given me a peace that passes understanding.

But, without Faith, it is impossible to believe. Faith itself is the evidence. And Faith is a gift. You can't work it up on your own. You can grope for answers, but without Faith you will only find more questions... like the physicist looking for the ultimate theory of everything only to find yet another layer of complexity disguised as simplicity.

Thanks for the correction Uncle Pug! I don't know what I was thinking about, football no doubt. Looking at McReynolds Greek/English, it lists 2315 for strongs. God-Breathed.

For the most part parents in general do not have the scientific expertise to determine what should be taught. If parents do not like what is taught, they have the option of home schooling, private schooling, or moving to a system that will accede to their wishes.

I do not follow. Did the parents not go to the same type of schools and learn about Evolution. What exactly are you saying here?

From one perspective, I see what you are saying. Many people in 3rd world countries see Americans as Christian and as a Christian Nation. (Please no flames over this, not my issue if that’s how people view us)

I’m curious about your use of the historical Jesus phrase though.

The public school system gives a very brief overview of basic subjects. And all schools are not the same in the area of academic rigor. I hope that someone with a public school education leaves with the tools to continue on in academia. High school science does not make one a scientist. In regards to evolution specifically look at the problem with the word "Theory", lay people do not understand the word scientifically. If there is that great a problem with one concept (words are shorthand for concepts), the difficulties inherent in understanding any discipline are almost insurmountable for a lay person.

More to the point; high school does not make one an expert in anything. If one is unhappy with what is taught, or how it is taught, go elsewhere. Private school, home school, another district, another state....Parents have options

Hey, I'm not picking a fight here, just want you to see my point. Actually, you just validated it. The one option that is not available within reason is to challenge ToE in the PUBLIC (secular) school system. Basically, you override and force your agenda.
