While we are on the subject of questions...
Did Adam and Eve's children procreate with their mother or their siblings? Same question with Noah and his family?

forgive me, it has been a while since I did the church thing, but as I recall, there is reference to Adam and Eve's children visiting a city. The best explanation to that is, that while Adam and Eve were the first people God created, doesn't mean they were the ONLY people god created.

You know... the really sad part? Man loves rules... God loves the heart. The Bible clearly states that whatever you did to the least of these my brothers, you did also to me. God doesn't really care about your denomination or what version of the scriptures you read. He wants you to love his people: all of them!

Jesus was quite clear that there are but two rules to live by: Love God and Love Everyone Else. All this talk of damnation just doesn't sound like love to me. Jesus only seemed to condemn those who wanted to condemn others. Hmmnnnnn, something to ponder in that. Those who want to be with God will be. Those who don't, won't. Me? I am all for lending a helping hand (I would put in a crack about not being a Republican, but that would get censored :D ), to those who want it whenever I can and when I am able to do so.

Now how does this apply to evolution? Many who call themselves Christians have lost sight of the important issues. Evolution vs Creationism is nothing but a Windmill that sidetracks you AWAY from serving others. It's a con job created by the world's leading con man in hopes that you will stop feeding the poor or forget to take care of the widows because you see evolution as something demonic. It's not: it's just science. Don't draw lines in the sand that God never drew. THAT is far more demonic than believing in evolution: Woe to him who sets up a stumbling block for God's children. It would be better to tie a mill stone around your neck (OK, it's a paraphrase).

You see, Christians are called to be "LIVING SACRIFICES"... unfortunately, most of us keep crawling off of the alter. Love and serve others: it's God's way for us to live.

H2Andy:
that's why he summarized his teachings into one single commandment:

Love God above all else and love your neighbor as you love yourself.

that one commandment is a single commandment. you can't do one half without the other half.

to accept Jesus (in my book) is to accept his teachings that we have to treat each other as brothers and sisters, live rightheous lives by that standard, and if you do wrong to another person, make it right.

unlike Jesus, I do not think of God as a real entity. I think of God as the ultimate metaphor for that which is good.

thus, i belive Jesus taught his disciples to love that which was good, and to love their neighbor as themselves.

and if you do that, you will inherit the Kingdom of God (that means you will have a part in doing what is good and what is righteous).

Aaahhhh gee Andy...hug....even though you are a lawyer...:D

I believe that species improve, or decline in some instances, due to pressures placed on them by a changing environment or by mutation.

But... The more I know and the more I learn makes me more convinced that there is some driving force behind the variety and interdependence of species that goes beyond just chance. For life on earth to go from nothing to highly diverse in the short amount of time life has existed (geologically speaking) would be like the same person winning the lottery several times over.

Instead of seeing the issue in either the black or white of evolution or creation, I prefer to see it in the grey of Divinely guided evolution. Not necessarily life that was "spoken into existence" but not life that is left to a throw of the dice, either.

The question is: did God create lawyers to be like they are or did they evolve into it?

Our Andy is the only one I actually like. :D
