I can't believe I'm entering this part of the frey. Any how, the bible is pretty explicit about homosexuals -

Levidicus 18:22
'Do not have sex with a man as you would with a woman. It is an abomination.'

Leviticus 20:13
'If a man has sex with a man in same way as with a woman, they have committed an abomination. They are certainly to be put to death.'

Leviticus 20:13
'Their blood is on their own heads.'

There's also a lot of stuff in their about slavery, genocide, and so forth. It's funny how the biblical literalists pick and choose the literal parts - even Jesus said we can have slaves, but no one seems to want to sell their kids to me ;)

To reiterate in case you missed it earlier:

“The Old Testament was written by my people, the Jewish people. But that book wasn’t good enough for you Christians. You guys said, ‘We got a better book and a great new character. You’re going to love it.’ And yet you are constantly interpreting our book. It’s not your book! A lot of the problems we have in the country is that you Christians interpret the Old Testament. You don’t see rabbis going on TV interpreting the New Testament.” -- Lewis Black

It is impossible to have sex with another man in the same way as with a woman, because of anatomy, duh. And in the case of a sex change, well the sex changee is a woman, now, so no abomination.

OK, now that we have that settled, the pope said that a man who has had sex with another man, but has not done so in the past 3 years, can and will be allowed into the priest hood:O

I am so confused. And what about "Thou shalt not kill"?

Organized religion is so screwy sometimes, ack.

I am new to the board so this hopefully is a dead subject but here is my thoughts:

I am in the medical field and after going through my studies I think that we were created, but then we evolved. Every living thing: animals, plants, ect have adapted and evolved to survive. There are to many things we can't explain to say we started as nothing, to a single cell organism to what we are today. If you take any anatomy class you will be amazed how many times in the book it says that they don't understand how this works, or how it happens it just does.

Welcome, I think we were about to launch into a discussion of which was more abominable, sex with another man, having a lobster dinner, putting some catfish on the barbie, or eating a ham sandwich.<G> Good old Leviticus covered a lot of ground. Just remember, eat a horse, go to jail (at least in California) ... so much for separation of church and cuisine.

don't forget wearing cloth made of different kinds of fiber... you go straight to hell for that...

No problem, I use a skin-2-side wetsuit, no nylon or lycra to break my caste.

Hey, I didn't write it. Maybe it's a mis-translation. Maybe there were acceptable ways that are not "as with a woman". I dunno...

Is she/he truely a woman? Genetically, still a man...

Not to critisize, but:

1) I am not a Christian, at least by most Christian's standards. I actually fall into the "worst" category as far as many of them are concerned - I'm a "recovering Christian"...

2) I never claimed to be interpreting the old testament, I was just quoting the English translation thereof. And unless the translation is wrong it's pretty explicit what was meant.

3) I don't live in the same country as you, assuming by "our country", you meant the USA.

Unless we think that a man who has had his legs cutoff is now a midget.
