[OK....I feel flippant....]
If Santa can deliver presents to all the kids in the world in one night then I suppose anything's possible.......:eyebrow:

So God called Jesus over at the beginning of the universe, and said: "You just HAVE to see this! I have taken this star and when I spin that planet, it gets alternating light and dark periods. Ain't that cool?"

Jesus replied: "Whoa, Father, that is WAY cool! What's next?

God: "Oh, I think I'll call it a day."

:D

I believe that Strong's exhaustive concordance is where I got my initial information about the words used in Genesis. If taken literally, the time would have been only 8 hours as it really referred to the WORK day (time of warmth). In fact our day is divided up into three distinct parts: Evening, morning and day.

But either way, God seems to have chosen to talk on their level and not over their heads. Sure, he could have used the concept of "epoch" and they would have taken one look at each other and given up on God being some sort of kook. This whole day thing was far more believable than taking epochs to create something. Heck even some Christians today still rail against the idea. After all, God wasn't trying to create a nation of scientists. They were after all, the CHOSEN race and not the Geeky Race.

Gee thanks Pete. I must have read about 15 papers on the subject and my head hurts.
If I have made you think and research what you believe, then my work is done here my friend (Cue "Happy Trails" music, send in trigger). It's time I mosey on down to San Antone, pardner!

Then we as a human race, must be teenagers.
As much as we whine, I would imagine we are in our terrible twos stage. :D

"It's creating a big weapon against Christians that's killing our faith...when children go to museums they'll start believing we evolved from these apes."

LOL! :D

Lost_At_Sea:
Not everything can be explained with facts, sometimes we have to have FAITH.
Why can't we have "FAITH" in the Big Bang? What makes some magical being in Heaven in the form of some old white man (all artistic depictions of God show him as caucasian) a more believable cause for the universe as we know it? Don't try to say that sorcery and spirits are more credible than the belief that Earth started as a big molten rock. Religion is a means to control people out of fear (e.g. going to Hell rather than Heaven because you didn't find Jesus) and the Bible in particular was almost certainly written by old men. Many religions, including Christianity, also encourage homophobia and distain of other "faiths" (ok, the second thing I don't know about in Christianity, but homophobia is true). Why should we worship God? If he's mad at people who don't, it's his own fault for giving us free will when he could have done ANYTHING else he wanted.

Somewhere in those 997 posts is the meanling of life....
