Uncle Pug:
Well, I would be happy to give an expanded and detailed explanation if I thought for one minute the you were seriously interested in the answer.

I am interested. I really am.

I really, honestly, cannot understand why the bible is viewed as gospel. What makes a person go from having never read it, to reading it and thinking "this *must* be the word of god" when it doesn't jive with the world around us.

Why do you believe Jesus even existed? Why do you believe that he was the son of god? Many have claimed to be the 2nd coming of Christ after him. Why are they believed to be psychologically unsound or con-artists? I just don't get it and maybe it would help me understand humanity a little better, because the way I see it now, a large percentage of the populus is dillusional. Without a good answer, it's the only logical conclusion that I can come to.

Uncle Pug:
Why indeed. But why not? Perhaps there is a reason rather than a need.

I didn't state an age for the earth so orders of magnitude older is meaningless.

Rectifying what I believe with what I observe isn't a problem for me... though others observing the same world have come to different conclusions.

Answering in riddles does no one any good.

How old is the Earth? How old is the universe? Give us a number and a reason.

drats.

what,-- we all follow along and then you guys go to Pm's?

Foul.

And once again, we see plain stupidity being used to try and refute creation, and endorse evolution. Sure - you may have 51 scientists in agreement, but let's see the book, with the scientific findings that support your belief!

This book isn't a 2 page book listing names and a short description of what they believe. It goes into deep study on the findings they have, and why they come to their conclusion.

These 50 scientists come from different fields, and come to the same conclusion by vastly different areas of study - which are (at the least) plausable, if not compelling.

Sorry the joke misfired. The In 6 Days book is a collection of essays by folks who are indeed scientists, but not in fields that apply to evolution. The scientific findings you allege are addressed by the essay posted by Thal. If you had read my post you notice that i did read one of the essays. This essay again trots out such science as the application of the second law of thermodynamics to biological entities. If you understood the second law you would realize it does not apply to biological systems. This has been hashed out over and over again.

Uncle Pug:
Well Doc... sometimes things are not as they appear. ;)
Heh, heh... I hear ye loud & clear, Pug :)

I just cannot beleive you Christians stood by and watched Thall and Lamont and Soggy pistol whip the poor Aussie.
My goodness, I am used to it being the other way around. What, is the science crowd the *new* zealots?

Kinda harsh. (smiley face)

You must realize if you don't let guys like that into the debate, it will just be you guys in here slapping each other on the back.
Catherine, the problem with the "Poor Aussie" had nothing to do with what side of the issue he was standing on. It was that he was completely unprepared but says, "I respect decisions (regardless of which way someone decides to believe) even though I don't have to agree with it - but only when the person has been dilligent (sic) in their research."

Anyone, on any side, that comes into a discussion and accuses me, or Lamont, or Soggy, or Mike, Pug, or Pete, et. al. of not having been diligent, or suggests that I get my information from TV (or any of several other things that might not bother you, but that make my blood boil) and who has not even bothered to read the thread, has hoist himself on his own petard. I just offered him a light for the fuse.

I will be amongst the first to welcome him back once he's caught himself up.
