He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

.

That is a tough one. I forget the man's name who God told to kill his own son to show his love to God....but that's too much. I'd have to say, "sorry God". That would really piss me off, to tell you the truth.

And as far as life developing from slime.....it does it all the time. Crack open a chicken egg....nothing but slime.

Oh God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"
Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin' me on"
God say, "No." Abe say, "What?"
God say, "You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin' you better run"
Well Abe says, "Where do you want this killin' done?"
God says, "Out on Highway 61."

H2Andy:
how exactly do you show you love Jesus more than your father, mother, son, or daughter?
Easy... follow His command, which says to love (both filios and agape) your father, mother, son and daughter.
By loving Jesus "more" you will have the capacity to love your children even when thay are hateful.
The concept really is simple; the execution isn't always easy.

who created the creator? how could such a being, with all that power exist, without someone or something creating him?
God created time. "Before" and "after" only exist in the context of time, part of the creation.

Whatever happened to Tiktaalik roseae and the Archaeoraptor?

I should state for the record that I'm a Christ Follower and have no reason to believe that Evolution played any part in how life developed on Earth.

For those so inclined, I would pose the following question.

If we (humans) are really only animals in pants, do we really exercise free will?

I will pose one in return.... if god is the alpha and the omega, the begining and the end, omniscent (all knowing). then he knew before he created everything, that adam and eve would eat of the tree of knowledge. then why punish them? was it really free will?

The fact that you have the ability to ask that questions, means the answer is "yes."

You ignore the omniscent part. He knows all futures, because HE can see the results of every possible free will choice. Just becuase the end is known, does not mean the we have no choices to make.

photohikedive,

Does being an evolved creature include free will? It was a simple question to all, I understand if you choose not to answer directly yes or no.
