What's up

I'm about to take my rescue class. I'm already certified in CPR but not First Aid.
Is this enough? I know EFR class has first aid as well. Do I need to take the class? It costs a lot of money and I can get cheaper training if need be through my job.

Thanks

EFR is required. You can take a First Aid class from the Red Cross and that, along with your CPR, will take care off the requirement. It's not a bad idea to take the diving specific class, though.

From the (PADI Website), "Successful completion of a sanctioned CPR program within the past 24 months. The Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses meet these requirements." Therefore, any sanctioned CPR program (e.g. Red Cross) that includes both Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) will work for your certification. "CPR" training without first aid, will not.

and EFR is not DIVING specific....

I thought the EFR thing wasn't too necessary since alot of it comes up in rescue diver anyway.. but I guess EFR makes the rescue diver cert compatible with red cross, so that's the merit.
Don't forget to have your blue gloves in your pocket at ALL times!! (you'll get it once you watch the video)

Not as presented in the materials, but dive centers that offer it should add the diving flavor to it.

isn't the dive version of EFR the rescue diver course? Or well, rescue diver kind of builds on TOP of EFR so.. it's hard to say. Oh well, just nit-picking... hell, you need both of the anyhow..

EFR is CPR and First Aid. Rescue Diver course covers a lot more - panicked diver and unconscious diver rescues, both at the surface and underwater.

A certification in Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) is a prerequisite to specific portions of the PADI Rescue Course, including almost all of the water skills. Dive shops often offer combined EFR and Recue Diver courses (they are two distinct courses) scheduling the skills in the appropriate order. Divers who already hold a valid CPR and First Aid certification from a sanctioned agency should be able to simply attend the Rescue Diver course.
