Sup Fellas,

I'm the guy who posted a few weeks back that I was going to Cozumel and that I had a slight concern because of my GF's ear issues. I'm happy to report that we dove 11x times together without having a single ear issue. Half of those were at depths of 85'.

I want to thank Tres Pelicanos Dive Center, ISIS Rentadora, and the board members on here that gave me so many tips to help her ears. One fellow mentioned to start clearing her ears weeks before the Trip. That tip made a world of difference. All those factors made our trip a success.

I recorded a lot of video and managed to edit it and make it into a 6 minute video. It's a way for me to give back. Enjoy.

Thats great news! Did she try the OTC meds like flonase/sudafed etc as well?

ahhhh..... thanks for the dive! loved the variety!
Glad you had a good trip and GF ears were fine.

Great that you guys pulled it off!

 Great! :bounce4:

I'm so glad it worked well. Ear issues are no fun I'm told. The only ones I get are swimmers ear infections, but I've stopped those with alcohol & vinegar rinses.
She took Sudafed the first couple of dives. Can't remember if she continued to do so throughout the trip.
Whatever did work, just repeat as often as possible. ;)

You know I was told DON'T clean the wax out so much before diving because it protects you from those infections. But hey, whatever works right?

I think experience might kill alot of ear issues. My ears are still really tight, but I think I am maybe just better at dealing with it than I used to be. I also starting taking a couple advil in the morning as my ears get a little 'sore' sometimes from the workout. Maybe that helps with the inflammation and equalizing?

I'm sure that wax serves a need. I don't know why I went for years of swimming with no problems, then started having infections. I'd end up in a doctor's office, any doctor I could see, on the verge of tears.

I am a total nerd for knowing this, but the ph of ear wax is instrumental in protecting the ear canal from infections. The wax is almost as acidic as vinegar. The low ph inhibits growth of both bacteria and fungus. Chlorine, soaps and salt water break up the wax which reduces the acidic barrier, thus elevating the ph and increasing the risk on infection. Alcohol is effective in killing off existing bacteria and fungus, the vinegar helps normalize the ph. Who would have dreamed that ear wax is a beautiful thing ?

I always take a Alch/Vin mix with me when diving and rinse my ears daily with it. Never had an issue!
