It's good to finally be back on line a bit even if only sporadically as power and phones are restored.
For those interested, we have posted a general island update as we know it in the NEWS section of INSIDER. It is rather long and I didn't know about the appropriateness of posting it here as a thread since so many folks are sensitive to that sort of thing. If the "powers that be" determine this post is inappropriately done please feel free to modify it however you see fit. My intention is simply to convey information about the status of things as we know it and we will continue to update as possible.

Pictures have been uploaded to this same section on the website and are being added by the web folks at this time as well.

Thank you to everyone for your concern for Cozumel this past week as we weathered WILMA!

Sherri,

Thanks for the update, for those of us up here, we can not get enough information on conditions and recovery efforts. We do realize y'all have MUCH more important things to do than sit around waiting for the electricity to come up to post web ring threads, so we will take what we can and save our pennies so we can come down and do our part to help get folks back to work.

Glad to see you are OK Sherri !
Where do you plan to put the webcam? I miss it. :-(

Ron

Thanks Ron!
We were answering emails and posting briefly last week via generator power and some one else's internet connection. Because Needless to say my 2nd floor Melgar office location where the webcam was located got pounded by WILMA like everyone else on beachfront street. We've been shoveling sand off the balcony this past week, drying out papers and I just got new windows and hurricane shutters reinstalled today as electrical was connected yesterday.

Fortunately, we removed all technology gear before the storm so the webcam is safe and ready to go ~~ just waiting on the phone to be connected. One of the main switches in the downtown area was badly damaged and the new one arrived yesterday for installation. We hope to be operating from our office by this Thursday or Friday with phone and internet so we'll get the webcam up ASAP!! We miss it too!

By the way ~ for those interested we've moved the location of our weekly "post wilma updates" and pictures on INSIDER to this location ~

Ron Brandt:
This is interesting...you are shoveling sand to-day and I'm shoveling snow.Ron

LOL:D ....I would rather shovel sand! My mother says, "Snow is better than hurricanes" and my husband says, "Hurricanes don't last 6 months". I tend to agree with my husband:14:
