Thanks for the extra help.
If they won't let me check in early, I think locking my stuff up would be the way to go. Perhaps go into town and get all the shopping done so I don't have to worry about it for the rest of the trip. Though kicking back by the pool sounds like a nice plan as well. We did the same thing last year at hotel cozumel. Except we just slept for a few hours. Felt guilty for doing it, but isn't that what vacations are for?
As for leaving, I didn't know that we could check our bags in and then leave. That would have been great to know last year since we just sat in an airport for an hour wishing we could stay longer.
We went ahead and did the european plan this time. We did the AI at hotel cozumel, and although it was nice to have, I think we missed out on some good eats elsewhere. A couple we know that went last year spoke of a great chicken restaurant off the main street. We are itching to try that out.
Another question is, how do you do get to the beach from the hotel? Is there a tunnel or would we walk across (what appears to be) a street?
Finally, is there a place I can rent a car at the hotel?
