cozumel/ cancun end of August (best spot for a single)?

traveling to cancun and cozumel at the end of Aug for a quick dive vacation.
I'll be flying in to cancun and then to cozumel. I'll be traveling by myself and aware that Cozumel is not a great spot for night life.
But to make the best of the trip can anyone recommend an area of town and a hotel close to the night life or one that is a common spot for singles (under $100/n)?
Trying to avoid big family hotels.

someone recommended Hotel Barracuda to me.. anyone stayed there?

Any place in or near downtown may meet your needs. There is not a Cancun style nightlife (but divers should not do that anyway). For me, one of the best choices is the Hotel Bahia. Cheap, clean and centrally located. Indeed, for the few years that I did not have a home there, while running Aldora Divers, the Bahia was my choice. Most dive shops will pick you up from the nearby Aldora Pier and I understand that the nearby Casa Mexicana hotel (owned by the same guy) provides free breakfast buffet.

Suites Bahia is also right by the Thirsty Cougar which has music some nights.

We were always in bed too early to notice if there was nightlife there other than that though.

If night life is a big priority, stay in Cancun. Check out Temptation Resort.

Cancun is about the night life; Cozumel is about the day life. There is some night life on Cozumel, or so I hear, but don't go there for that.
