Is there anyone else out there like me? I'm not going to Coz until May, but I've already spent many hours online reading every post I can find related to diving Coz. Hotels, dive operators, weather, dive sites, beach diving, boat diving, night diving, drift diving, currents, downwellings, restaurants, car rentals, scooters (sure death), air fares, travel tips, luggage & gear restrictions, sickness prevention, monetary exchange, shopping, misc. tourist sites (ruins, etc.), and more!
I've Googled, searched SB, PM'd, emailed and made phone calls to MX. I've looked at about a million pictures and read every trip report on Al Gore's blessed internet (some reports I've read multiple times). Everyday I look at the Coz web cams. I save all my favorite links in a word file. I print out maps, dive site descriptions, etc. and keep them in a folder called Coz 2005. I have already paid cash in full for my hotel, diving and airfare (just to make sure nothing goes wrong). I did this same thing before my last trips to Hawaii, Monterey and PV.
A guy I dive with (Bob) is a professional in the mental health field. He has diagnosed me with, what he calls, Manageable Obsessive Compulsive Behavior.
Two days ago I bought a new car. I spent exactly 5 minutes driving it (the first one I looked at), gave the guy the money and drove away. It's just a car, who cares? But with diving, I spend ex-ordinate amounts of time researching, reading, posting...
My wife just smiles and shakes her head at me. My Pastor says whenever he starts to think he is a little excessive, he thinks of me and feels better.
Will 12 days in Coz cure me, or make it worse? Anyone else this bad?
(BTW, airfare booked through Orbitz, staying at the Caribeblu(best hotel beach dive) , and diving with Christi's Blue XTSea.)

It will probably cure you until the next time you go to book a vacation.

Trust me I know!

By the way, a vaction is way more important then a car so don't worry about it.

Think of your 12 days in Cozumel as a 12 step plan for your MOCB.

Step 1. Dive, have fun.
Step 2. Dive, have fun.
Step 3. Dive, have fun.
Step 4. Dive, have fun.
Step 5. Dive, have fun.
Step 6. Dive, have fun.
Step 7. Dive, have fun.
Step 8. Dive, have fun.
Step 9. Dive, have fun.
Step 10. Dive, have fun.
Step 11. Dive, have fun.
Step 12. Dive, have fun.

About the car purchase, I did the same thing when I purchased my last car, drove it and knew it was mine, and bought it. Even when I told myself I was going to look around.

About researching a vacation before I go, I feel like I have already been there once I get there, sort of a self induced Dejavu. Those virtual cams with 360 degree rotation are awsome.

In Coz?? Where??

Rick,

You' re not alone.

My wife and I have been to Cozumel 14 times and just got back three weeks ago from our last trip. We're going again April 2-10. We have already booked our trip and paid the bills.

We liked it so much we bought a house when we were there in January. I have to admit we had been looking for quite sometime.

I have already planned out the minor renovations on the house as well as scheduling dive time. This will be the second time that we have been to Cozumel that we have not made at least two dives a day. When we closed in January we were tied up all day with paperwork.

Even thought we have been there so much I still read all the postings and talk to students twice a week about dive trips and show pictures on the laptop when class is over.

So yes there are a few of us, AR, people out there. For me it's the planning, diving, underwater photos, weather, people, food and did I mention the diving.

I don't look at the webcams anymore since the weather is on my computer and I just about committed the town map to memory.

We dive mostly with Living Underwater now. I met Christi at the harbor in the Spring but we didn't get a chance to visit. All the postings as well as people I have spoken with have enjoyed diving with her.

Yes, 12 days will give you a good warm up and help with your tan but forget it you're addicted.

As a special favor, just to you, because I'm such a nice guy, if you send my the keys and the address, I'll make sure the house is OK while I'm there... :eyebrow:

Here's a 360 degree tour I visit when I need a Cozumel fix. Like today, we're supposed to get another 1-3 inches of snow. :sad_2:

You need to click on Mexico, then Cozumel, then Cozumel again. Enjoy!

SURE! 12 days will cure you...for about 12 DAYS!!!

then you come home...go back to the net...start planning your next trip. it's a vicious cycle.

don't worry your not the only one with the sickness, once you've been there, you've got it. I think they put something in the margaritas. luckly i have my underwater photos for escapism.

we'll be there in May also...man, MAY! Just seems like so far away!

hey! poet and don't know it!
