I agree with all the aforementioned replys with one addition--In the advent of rough seas, the boat personnel will through a buoyed line out to those waiting to board the boat. Swim to the line and hold on and wait your turn as the line is pulled to the boat. There may be several divers on that line at one time. The Professor

Christy,

It read "we had enough after the first dive" -- didn't mean to say anything about the air. We'd had enough of the dive that day and decided to call it a day.

I have no axes to grind, didn't mean to blast anyone's favorite dive operator, I just wanted to share a bad experience we had to try to help someone else avoid it. I know nothing about this dive operator other than the one day of diving we did. We didn't feel the experience was safe, so we opted not to dive with them again.

As far as only reporting real experiences, I did. It happened to us and I hope it never happens to anyone else. In the 16 years I've been diving, nothing like this has happened before.

But I still think you didn't give them a fair chance. They have the best safety record for a shop with the volume they do and are well respected my other operators as well as customers. The only thing out of the ordinary was the captain leaving the divers...their boats are set-up specifically for diving, it sounds like you prefer the larger boats. Seasoned divers typically prefer the smaller faster boats.

Just curious as to where else you have dove and how often in those 16 (-2 years of no diving per your profile) years of diving? Every destination has different protocol that is followed which is why I ask. Perhaps Cozumel is just different than you are used to.
