We will be in Aruba for a few days for a Wedding and decided to go early and spend a couple days diving in Bonaire. We plan to stay at Buddy Dive based on reccomendations here (no discount for Scubaboard members BTW! Lame).

Anyway, love to hook up with other couples to dive with those days if anyone wants to get together. Couple in our mid 30's.

Trip report to come.

Since we only have 2 days I would love to hear some of you guys favorite must do dives while we are there. We will be shore diving and are going to try and get in 8 dives at least.

SBP,

Since you are visiting our lovely island for such a short period of time, I have to highly recommend that you stick with the sites close to town (Something Special is amazing IMHO) and do the southern dives. I highly recommend Angel City or there abouts (Double Reef system) and further south, Margate Bay, Red Slave area. You of course will have the house reef at Buddy, and I recommend to the north, "The Cliff and Oil Slick".

I think this will be enough to get you to want to come back to our wonderful island! Then you can do the northern sites. The only reason I say not to do them is that the only road turns into a one way and you have to drive back through Rincon, and this takes precious time from diving.

Liz

You will love it! I say go north! Do Andra 1, Oil slick, Jeff Daves, and 1000 steps and then come back south and do something special, windsock, angel city, and pick one! You will get a good sample of Bonaire! I like how quite is is going north! You can spend two days diving north and not go past 1000 Steps!

Wow, only two days!!! Not enough. The posts above cover it all. :)

If I personally had two days and six dives then here is my list...Angel City, Oil Slick, 1000 steps, Karpata, Bari Reef, and maybe Something Special. Of course, you could easily do 4 dives a day. HAVE FUN!!!!

I'd skip 1000 steps. I don't think it's as good as some of the others. If you dive Angel City, dive The Lake as well - hit the double reef. North, Karpata is a must and Oil Slick had quite a bit of damage in the shallows but is still good at some other spots.

As Liz suggested The Cliff is good too.

If you are going to do any night dives, I would HIGHLY recommend doing the UV night dive with Bas Noij, it is truly AMAZING. All of the phosphorescent life comes to life. Things that are very apparent during the day are not with the UV (tarpon, barracuda). You can contact him at bas@noij.com. This is a dive that is not to be missed!

Have fun!
