Virgin now defoliated. Moved and seconded.

But is that what this forum is for? I can't figure it.

Maldives? Looked at the website- seems confused between a liveaboard and a land based offering. SCUBA is referenced as "nearby". The descriptions page of the rooms are of the land based, the picture is obviously a cabin aboard ship. You figure it out ;)

Okay, so it's a luxury cabin cruiser... not uncommon for the Maldives. They usually do this with Dhoni Boats providing the diving. Dhonis are the local long wooden boat with compressor, tanks, weights, etc., that travel in tandem with such luxury yachts.

The problem with this set-up in the Maldives is that many similar yachts also try to cater to a very broad range of guest interests, SCUBA being just one of them.

I have been on several such in the Maldives and as it is a big destination for Europeans, the dive schedule is expected to be one, maybe two a day. The rest of the day is spent sunbathing, deep sea fishing and other pursuits.

True enough, when you bring a load of dive-dive-dive types aboard (Americans), they will flex their schedule to accomodate, but the small (dierect pressure) compressor can only pump just so fast. Again, that is if you "own the boat".

The Maldives suffer from complaints of coral bleaching, but what do we new arrivals know? It is littered with small wrecks and more-than-occasional pelagics- rays and sharks, huge groupers. It has miles of 120# test monafilament and piles of jetsam, but has lots of good diving if you want something different from "the usual".
