cost of replacement parts?

Hi,

I'm looking at buying a reg soon and trying to figure out how much replacement parts will cost me if I don't end up getting a plan where I get free replacement parts each year.

So...how much are replacement parts per service on an Aqualung Titan, Titan LX, or Legend LX?

For the Legend, Ebay pricing for the first stage overhaul kit is about $25-35. I believe that the second stage kits cost $13-25.

Bear in mind that Aqualung's free overhaul kits program only pays for kits every other year...provided that the reg setup gets serviced annually and the warranty is maintained.

You might want to look at buying an Atomic regulator. Their program requires you to service the reg every two years. Keep the reg for two years, you save $50-100 in labor.

FYI, Aqualung/Apeks also requires a full overhaul every two years. On the in-between years, the reg owner gets an inspection, which should only take a few minutes (while you wait) by a competent reg tech, provided that the reg is functioning as it should. For the inspection, I've been charged $0 - $10 per reg. In terms of labor, I don't see much difference between Atomic and Aqualung/Apeks. For cold water diving, the Atomic first stage may require packing with Christolube, which can increase the cost of overhaul. YMMV.

Other manufacturers may stipulate different service intervals.

Bubbletrubble gave you good info, I just wanted to suggest actually asking the LDS you plan to purchase the Agualung reg from what their policy & prices are. There is some variation between shops on labor rates, and possibly parts cost (but rebuild kits are generally not much more than what Bubbletrubble quoted). Ask what the labor rates are for annual inspection and for an annual service, and what the cost is if you "miss" a year.
