Hi,

What is the basic cost for a dive?

I mean the cost of air, nitrox, trimix, scrubber.

I know there are many additionnal costs, such as equipement rental and buying, car use, hotels, but let's forget about them for the moment.

So, what about for the fill of a 104 cf bottle:

Air - 6-8 $ in Eastern Canada

Nitrox

Trimix

Rebreather costs ( I dont know much about those, but I'd like to know).

Dive to the SS Michigan 270'

Boat ride $140
Fill of 15/60 in double 130's $120
Fill in LP45 O2 $14
Fill in AL80 40% $8
Fill in AL 40 22/25 $20

So $302 without gear and training.

Local dive for me, as i own my gear...

15 - entry to scuba park
12 - air fill two tanks, 12 each if enriched

Local shore dive in Southern WI:
Air fills around me -- $10-$15
Nitrox -- $15-$20

A lot of the local shops now offer free air/nitrox refills for life with the purchase of a tank...

If you bring your own boat, the landing fee is another $0-$20 depending on the lake and dock. Start renting boats and the sky is the limit, but something with no motor and big enough for two divers starts at about $25 on most lakes.

Hmmm, let me see here
:read:

Ok, I stopped after page 1, I don't want to know. :shakehead:

Local shore dive:

Drive 20 miles: 2.40
Nitrox fill: 0.65 (I buy a yearly membership for $650, and use at least 100 Nitrox fills)
Parking: 0 to $5

Dive off my boat:

Drive truck 20 miles: $7
Boat launch fee: $7
2 hours engine time: $42 (This is usually split with at least 2 other divers)
2 Nitrox fills: $1.30

Local charter:

Boat fee: $85
2 Nitrox fills: $1.30
Drive 100 miles round trip $12

Mexican cave dive:

Airfare: $500
Condo: $300 (per person x 4)
Car rental: $200
Tank rental: $30
Site fee: $10
An hour among the stalactites: PRICELESS!

North Carolina Diving:

I just got two AL80 tanks filled with NNI yesterday for 12 USD (6 USD each). Air is only 5 USD per tank. Larger tanks add an extra dollar each tank for nitrox.

Bring your own gear, and boat diving off a charter can be 65 USD half day (inshore wrecks two tank), All Day 115-140 USD (deep ocean two tank and can be at two different locations, depending on passenger consensus and weather conditions).

Rent equipment and it can cost about 35 USD for a full kit (minus doubles).

You can do anything you want, as Captain and crews have seen it all and done most of it.

With kindest regards from North Carolina,
Thomas

shore dive, with or without kayak;

5 min drive to Maui Dreams for tank - $4
10 min drive to Ulua Reef or 15 min drive to Makena Landing
15 - 30 min cleaning gear in beach shower
10 - 15 min drive back to Dreams to return tank

about an hour and four dollars (not counting gasoline).

Seasonal pass @ my local dive quarry (Whitestar)... $120 for the entire year vs. $15/day... I'll more than make up the difference by the end of the year...

Airfills... bought a tank through my LDS at the end of last year... one of his perks is , buy a tank through him and get free fills for a year... its gonna offset the cost of the tank significantly by the end of the year...

So... as far as what it cost me That Day of diving, it costs me the price of gas gettin' out there... (40 min. drive)...

cant see it getting More economical than that any time soon...
