I was just reading through the GUE Equipment Configuration and came across something that I didn't understand:

Corrugated Hose: Should be just long enough to allow for ear clearing and potential dry suit inflation while actuating inflator, but not so long that it drags or entangles easily

Is there some sort of fancy, DIR, inflator assisted ear clearing I don't know about?

Seriously, I don't mean to poke fun. I just don't understand how, or even when, you would clear (I assume they mean by pinching the nose closed) "while actuating inflator".

Thanx.

I believe it means that the inflator hose should be long enough for you to perform a valsalva, inflate your wing, and inflate your drysuit all at the same time with the same hand. If I recall correctly from a previous thread this is useful when you're scootering on some of the more advanced dives...(??)
