Copan side trip

A couple of us are looking to go to Copan after our diving in Roatan. Would leave Roatan on Thursday AM and tour the ruins on Friday. Need to be in San Pedro Sula airport for noon flight on Saturday.

Any suggestions on how to arrange the trip or how to approach it? Questions include:

Arrange something through our resort or arrange things independently?
What are flight and ground transport options?
Should we get back to San Pedro Friday after the ruins or go back early Saturday AM?
Suggestions for getting a guide?

Please post all the details about this side trip. We are planning a trip back to Roatan and really, really want to do Copan this time.

Hi Dave,

you could leave Roatan on the early ferry 7.00am, check out timetable of Hedman Alas bus company, I believe there is a 10.00am bus to San Pedro Sula, (about 3 1/2 hour trip), make the connecting bus which I think gets into Copan around 5.00pm. (about 3 hours).
Alternatively you could take an early flight out of Roatan to San Pedro and catch the earlier bus out of SPS to Copan. I am pretty sure there is an early am bus from Copan to SPS.

There are local guides at the entrance to the ruins.
I think Taca would be your best option for booking flights from Roatan. There is also SOSA Airlines. Have fun.
