Hi guys,

i should really know this but is it possible to convert seperate cylinders into a twinset? the reason is i am buying a couple of euro 12's and have a doubles wing but no twinset :(

Cylinders with the same volume can have different external dimensions and weights. Check to see if they're the same before you twin them.

Yes, all doubles are made from ordinary single cylinders. As noted you need make sure they are identical. This includes making sure they are quite close in actual size. There is a surprising tolerance window in the height that can make for an odd pair if you don't pay attention.

For what it's worth, here's another link on assembling a set of doubles; YouTube - GUE Rigging Dual Bottles

I like assembling this way because it is much easier to know that the isolator is threaded in correctly with the valves off the tanks. You can also measure the center to center dimension from valve stem to valve stem and match them to the specs of the appropriate bands. Everything else is basically the same BUT make sure your stainless steel bolts are clean and sprayed with an anti seizing/ galling (Galling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) compound or the bolts and nuts can easily weld themselves together before they are completely tightened and ruin both the nut and bolt.

Highland Mills now owned by XS Scuba arguably makes some of the best bands in the market.

Good luck...
