I've heard the "thousands more people die in car crashes than in planes every year" before, but I didn't know if they take into consideration the fact that there are hundreds of thousands more cars in the world, plus there is a lot more air space than land, so airplanes have a much lower chance of collision or crash.
Anyways, I guess I just kind of got spooked - when looking for scuba books and movies, 95% of what comes up is stories of people dying. I guess that's all people who don't dive care about. I just keep imagining inhaling and instead of getting air through the regulator, getting a lungful of water. :/
