How do you connect a Venture Wing to a Dive Rite Al backplate? I have the wings and am about to order the backplates and harnesses. Also, will the cam straps be sufficient to dive with singles or will we need to get the single tank adapter. I have never set up a BP/W nor do I have anyone local to turn to for help.

I can't speak for the Venture wing, but if it's like any other single tank wing then you can either route the cam straps through the wing and around the backplate, or you can sandwich the wing between the backplate and a single tank adapter (usually with a bolt/wingnut). The single tank adapters can be handy if you want to move some weight off your weightbelt. I'm rather confident that if you have the wing/backplate/two camstraps then you are good to go.

Hi,

You can use just cam straps, although for a secure fit that keeps both pieces of gear firmly attached, you'll want to get Assembly Screws.

Single tank adapter is optional. The benefit is that is can add weight to your rig, meaning less weight in the pockets. Plus, a STA provides some tension to the rig when placed on the tank so when you release the cam straps the rig stays relatively in place on the tank. If you don't use an STA, that's fine and will save you some $$, however when you release the cam straps from the tank the rig drops to the bottom of the tank as there is no tension to keep it in place. Some divers find this a hassle.

You might try without STA and then add one if you find it necessary.

Best,
Kathleen
