Hi all hoping someone can give some advice out there.

I am currently using the sony nex5 and a MK housing i was going to upgrade to a good housing for it and found out that all housings are now discontinued for the nex5 (ebay not an option i live in bali with 100% import tax!!!!)so i was looking to upgarde the camera body to the nex5n and get a housing for that but been told that the 5N may go soon as the 5R is out now can anyone say if this is true or not ???as im looking for a system that i can use for a good few years not a year or so but because of this i am considering getting a whole new system either the canon 600d or 650d with ikelite or sea and sea housing yes its bigger and heavier than the sony but im thinking this would have a longer lifespan than sony nex models?

any info options experience etc etc you have out there would be awesome

thanks
Gregor

Slow down and take a breath. You are trying to compare two completely different setups here. Lets break down your options step by step.

First figure out what you want. The Sony is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, the Canon 600d and 650d are DSLR's. Pick between the camera types to narrow your choice down a little.

Next figure out your camera choice. If you want to go mirrorless, I know nothing about Sony's future plans. Canon's DSLR's are pretty awesome in general and the 650d seems to be a pretty safe bet due to its general improvements in video AF and increased ISO capability.

Finally housing choice sounds like it depends on your budget. Want to go cheap-ish? Go Ikelite. Otherwise, Sea and Sea might be safer.

yea sorry i know there are two totally different set ups the mirrorless way is good for the travelling smaller lighter etc but im thinking the dslr way has longer life span but bulkier just be in singapore in about two weeks time and cameras are cheap there so need to make a fast decision think i will go canon 600d or 650d at least in bali i can get housing ports and lenses for canon when its time to add to it just do love my little nex 5 lol but hard to get a housing for them ....
