You know you could have just said that you weighed 161.4 lbs and we all would have believed it!;)

Trust me, I thought about it:D

Why not just fill the wing while it's on a tank, then drain it into a bucket and weigh the water, or even just measure volume? We all know how much a liter of water weighs...

If I am lucky I might have a 5 gallon bucket in the garage, but 44.4 lbs of water it just over 5 gallons. That and I would have probably left the weight of the bucket out of the post and this would all would have happened anyway! :poke:

Am I the only one who thinks that this is a lot of fuss over a wing that -might- have been slightly bigger than what was ordered?

I don't. If I'm buying something (whether it be dive gear, a car, or a loaf of bread), I would like to actually receive what I selected. Especially if I made the specific calculations to determine what I wanted or needed.

I believe the OP said that he already had a ~45# wing and it was more lift than he wanted, which was part of the reason for buying a 35# wing. Wings are not cheap, so it's not like it was $20 and he can easily just let it go and buy another one (and even if it were cheap; I still think things should be as-specified to within reasonable tolerances, ~30% not being reasonable here in my book).

So, I don't think it's too much fuss, and I'm glad the OP posted the details. It sounds like the vendor may have mis-converted into pounds when they sourced the wing from the manufacturer (?)

So it is no big deal that when I asked about the wing they said it was marked wrong and really was a 35? It would have been different if when I ordered they said hey we don't have the 35, but we do have a 40. I might have gone along with that and even if I did not I would have had a choice of what happened next.

What would have happened if you ordered a 35# wing and they shipped you a 25# wing? So it is "slightly" smaller than what you ordered, so I am sure you would not make a fuss over it.

The point of this thread was to check the lift of the wing, not to make a fuss. Yesterday did prove to be interesting because I did not explain in enough detail on how I came up with the original 44.4# and someone was paying attention to what I wrote. Which is not always a bad thing. I would have been mad if I sent it back because I screwed up. But the response of the company was to ship it back, so I did.

If he uses the same technique to test this new wings lift then he will still think he has a 45 lb wing. DSS got a sale out of all this though.

For the record I had narrowed my choices down to DSS and the "other" wing when I purchased. I had heard good things about both companies on multiple boards from multiple people. The 1st wing was just a little more inexpensive than the DSS. But when that fell through the DSS was next in line and someone made me a good deal on it.
