I have a listing on a huge ranch that includes 10+ miles of shoreline and lake bottom on Conchas Lake and am intrigued by the idea of diving there. Has anyone dived there already? Any info on conditions?

Don't know, but have been wondering the same thing. My boss has a weekend place on Conchas, and a boat, but has never mentioned divers (he knows i dive so he is, at least, watching)

I've never dove there either. I imagine some of the more remote places (like the ranch) might offer some acceptable diving if there is no run off and things aren't stirred up. Fish, mud and dead trees and bushes. But, it could be interesting.

I've been in Ute Lake, but I haven't been in Conchas. From what I've been told is that Conchas has better visibility than Ute. I'd be up for some diving. :) Maybe I can track down a couple guys that I know have been in the lake and see if I can get some more information on dive locations, etc. :)

I talked to one of the instructors in our shop last night who is a State Police diver. She says that Ute is more interesting than Conchas, both have about the same viz. Conchas is not that great the further from shore you go.

one divers opinion.....

Used to hold rescue classes there. Visibility at that time (1999-2000) was around 15 ft. Also would go spearfishing there. Did not go to Ute Lake so I can't compare between the two.

Also we dove in a cove by the dam. We looked at other areas in the lake on one trip and vis was 2-3 feet.

I dive muck so any water is good water to me. For clear water you would now be much closer to the Blue Hole.
