Hey Divers
Just wanted to give you a quick report on what's been going on with our website. Jim, Colin and I are working on collecting information about this great state of ours and the awesome diving here. The site will be live very shortly and we need your help. What we would like to include is:

Your fav. dive shops Name, street address, phone number, website, driving directions.

Your favorite dive destinations this is mainly for beach and spring divers, don't feel excluded if you are a boat diver. Send driving directions, the area of the state you start from, and any other useful information, such as quarters for parking meters or entrance costs. Also if you can, describe how to get to the area. For instance if I were describing Hollywood Beach, I would tell explain this is a beach dive in the southeat, how to get to the beach from a major interstate, where to park, how far the walk is to the beach, facilities include public showers, a bathroom, and resturaunts, how far to swim out, when out there how to line up surface landmarks and identifying markers under water. (swim till the big palm is smack in the middle between the building and the lifeguard shack. Make sure you are past the bouy. Drop down and look for a huge rock pile that is located in an east west direction.) The more information you give us the easier it is for others to find it.

In the future I would also like to include personal stories that are diving related, either fiction or non fiction. The personal stories will be reviewed for content and rating (PG) before they are put up. Examples would be short stories of an awesome dive experience, or a ficticious story that you have been playing with, or a true story that changed your attitude about diving. [/I]NO previously published articles or copyrighted material.

Have fun!

Thanks for taking the initiative on this Jenny! :)

If anyone has pictures of what the reef, spring, dive area drawings or maps. Something to give a general idea of what the site looks like for someone who may be going to dive there for the first time :D

Is there any way we can have a photo gallery of pictures from our group trips?

I'll start thinking up dive locations and info that I have. Who do I send it to?

Great - from an outsider's perspective, looking for a place to dive, the most important "search" pieces of information would be like

State region,
boat/shore,
description,
club rating...

This way, somebody from out of state could click "SE Florida" "Shore" and a minimum rating of "x or above" to find spots, read the description and go from there.

It would save the hundreds of posts we see every year asking where to dive, but of course then we wouldn't have the fun of welcoming and revisiting our experiences.

You can post information here, or PM me for my personal email address

Mike you are right on, that is exactly what we are trying to accomplish! As far as ratings, I think that if we put a destination/ up, its a good place to go/shop. After all are you gonna tell us about that cruddy shop that [fill in the blank]?

I don't remember right off hand if we will have those capabilities, but I know someplace on SB you can post your pics. I think its a great idea, tho and would be a lot easier than uploading one....pic....at.....a......time.......(dang....slow....connections......) and having to guess what each pic is if the name of the pic is ambigous...

Hey Jenny and fellow Conchers,

Just wanted to say hello since I have been out of the loop here for a couple of months. Nasty weather or family obligations have made weekends difficult to set aside.
I thought I would put my .02 on Dive Shop recommendations for anyone out in the Kendall area. They are located 1 mile west of the Turnpike on Kendall Drive so easy access to anyone heading to the keys. They have air or nitrox fills, do repairs and provide great service. I actually got my certification through them and they have always treated me very well so this plug is the least I could do:

Divers Den
12614 N Kendall Drive
Miami, Florida 33186
Tel: 305 595-2010
Fax: 305 271-4641

Hope to see you all in the water soon
