PErrone, if I were in the US and knew anything about dive shops between Fort Lauderdale and Duck key I would HAVE provided a straight forward answer.

Edit:
And you haven't told the OP what he wants to know - A dive shop between Fort Lauderdale and Duck Key that will not take him for a ride.

True.

Stop at Brownies Southport divers:

They'll hook ya up.

As he passes through Florida City, the last city on the mainland before hitting the Keys he will drive right by several very competitive dive shops. Big signs, with big dive flags flying out front. And then he will pass by several more good dive equipment retailers as goes through Key Largo.

Most Keys diving can be done easily without a computer. Most reef dives in the Keys are so shallow that N2 loading isn't a limiting factor, even on repetitive dives. The wreck dives are close enough to square profile that tables are not unduly limiting.

DanBMW:
Depends upon the type of diving you do and how often. Two dives a day, do it in your head. Lots of dives on lots of continuous days, do some research and then get the computer.
My experience is that the key factor is not how many dives per day, but whether or not they are multilevel. My typical 100', 65 minute dive at Molokini just doesn't fit very well on tables.

I wonder why there are so many anti-computer divers? And why do they try to convince others not to buy one?

Well I didn't tell him not to buy one, but to take his time and buy the right one. I don't have an LDS in South Florida to recommend. Have several in Central Florida.

Cheers

...the OP seems to have done her/his research well (based on the fact that he/she has narrowed down the choice of computer to Suunto/Uwatec).

I don't believe the OP has done much research considering they don't even know where to buy a computer and have decided to buy it at the last minute. That said, I agree with Charlie. The OP will pass a million dive shops on the way to his/her destination. The fact that they don't know this tells me that they haven't done much research on their destination either, lol.
