I just ordered some stuff online and as usual had a bit of a problem being out of the US, but ironed it out. But the guy I talked to on the phone told me my IP address of my computer is in the USA. We have satellite internet here. por que?

The geographical address show for an assigned range of IP addreses depends on who the range is 'licensed' or assigned to, who then could assign (or lend it) to someone else. For example, I could let you use one of my registerd address ranges and you'd show up as being geographically where I'm located.

Now days it's harder to get assigned IP ranges, but 10 years ago you could
easily ask for them and anyone could get them. Now you have to pretty
much get them from your service provider only and then they will only
give you a few and the rest you do with internal private range addresses
like 192.168.x.x and then use NAT (Network Address Translation) through
your router.
